IBS Treatment Without a Referral — or a Waitlist
If you have been told to get a referral and wait, you have another option. You can refer yourself for gut-directed psychotherapy today, be seen virtually, and hear back from our care team within two business days.
You do not need a referral
We accept self-referrals. You do not need to see your family doctor first, you do not need a gastroenterologist to sign anything, and you do not need to be added to anyone’s list. Fill in the appointment form, email us, or call — and our care team responds within two business days.
You do not need to wait
There is no waitlist. Publicly funded gut-directed psychology programs exist and they are valuable, but they typically require a physician or specialist referral and are often delivered in a group or class format, with waiting periods. If that route works for you, take it. If you have been waiting, or you want individual sessions, you can start here instead.
What you get instead
Individual, one-to-one sessions with a clinician who works exclusively in disorders of brain-gut interaction — not a general therapist who also happens to see IBS. Assessment is Rome IV–based, treatment is gut-directed hypnotherapy, CBT and ACT, and progress is tracked with validated symptom tools so the plan adjusts to what is actually working. With your consent, we report back to your family physician throughout.
Where we can see you
All sessions are virtual. We currently see patients in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Elsewhere in Canada, contact us and we will confirm whether we can see you.
What it costs
Sessions are $190 per hour if you are paying yourself. Most extended health and employer benefit plans reimburse psychotherapy and counselling — we provide detailed receipts. Eligible Veterans and Treaty-status First Nations and Inuit clients can access sessions at no out-of-pocket cost.
