Cost & Insurance Coverage

Specialized, gut-directed psychotherapy shouldn't be hard to pay for. Here's exactly what sessions cost, how insurance coverage usually works, and the no-cost options for Veterans and Treaty-status clients across Manitoba.

How much does gut-directed therapy cost?

Without insurance or program coverage, sessions are $190 per hour, billed directly. No referral is required to begin, and our care coordinator responds within two business days of your request.

Is gut-directed therapy covered by insurance?

Often, yes. Most extended health and employer benefit plans reimburse psychotherapy and counselling services — check your plan for a "psychotherapy" or "counselling" benefit and its annual maximum. We provide detailed receipts after each session that you can submit to your insurer for reimbursement, and a Health Spending Account (HSA) can usually be applied as well.

No-cost care for Veterans & Treaty-status clients

Eligible Veterans and Treaty-status First Nations & Inuit clients can access fully covered sessions at no out-of-pocket cost through Veterans Affairs Canada and the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) program. See full Veterans & Treaty coverage details →

How to check your coverage in two minutes

Open your benefits booklet or member portal and look for a line item such as "Psychologist," "Psychotherapist," or "Counselling." Note the annual dollar maximum and whether a specific credential is required. If you're unsure, email info@braingutcentre.ca and we'll help you understand your options before you book.
